The Career Development Centre has a web portal called Birtu. The word ‘Birtu’ is an Amharic word which is meant to striving, endurance or persistence. Birtu.com is a new platform for job market and it is part and parcel of Aha Psychological Services web portal Birtu portal has three core functions. First, it provides information for job-seekers to update them about the available jobs and requirements, second it avails profile of job-seekers with skill sets about their interest, attitude, soft skills, work ethics and work values and finally it opens an opportunity for employers, job-matching service providers (JMSP) and job-seekers to explore opportunities on placement, recruitment /selection and further career development services. There is also an opportunity for JMSP and employers to post vacancies that need to be filled by the target. Thus, Birtu web portal serves for job matching with reduced job search cost, information on job-search, job exchange, and job postings.
